Our client is a well-established U.S.-based insurance company with over 100,000 employees nationwide. While they had a mature internal team managing Workday HCM and Financials, they lacked the technical expertise to utilize their newly acquired Workday Extend module.

The Challenge: Redesigning the Position Management Experience

Despite their long-term success with Workday, the client had no in-house capability to build custom applications on Workday Extend. Meanwhile, they were facing a growing need to modernize their position management processes and offer managers a self-service solution that could:

Backfill or transfer existing roles

We designed a sleek, intuitive front-end experience that enabled managers to:

View helpful guides and videos
Submit new position or requisition requests
Track the real-time status of submissions

This interface significantly improved user adoption and reduced the need for HR support.

Advanced Data Capture

To meet the client's need for greater customization, we created new Model Component Objects that:

Collected additional requester-specific data
Linked seamlessly to Workday’s delivered position and requisition objects
Enabled better reporting, auditing, and data integrity

Custom Approval Workflows

We developed tailored UI pages for HR and upper management, allowing them to:

Review and approve requests
Edit or override manager-submitted data
Route approvals through company-specific workflows

Seamless Integration with Workday Orchestrate

We implemented Workday Orchestrate for Integration to bridge the gap between Extend and delivered processes. Once the Extend workflows were completed, they triggered corresponding delivered business processes automatically—achieving end-to-end automation.
